Allow Ghanaian Teachers To Enjoy Annual Leave In Line With Labour Law.

Image
According to Ghana's labor regulations, teachers should be able to take use of the annual leave system through the educational system, according to Angel Carbonu, President of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT). He claimed that although Ghana's labor laws grant teachers the right to quit, leave is not actually granted to them. He argues that vacation time, which students look forward to, cannot take the place of leave because teachers continue to mark exam scripts during this time. Mr. Carbonu questioned whether anyone was concerned about the lives of teachers in a radio interview with Citi FM, Accra, on Friday, Nov. 3, 2023. He mentioned that many teachers are losing their lives due to overwork and sleep deprivation.  He voiced concern that teachers' pay was inadequate despite the demanding nature of their profession and warned that they would not be able to work continuously without a break. credit: Z.
