President Nana Akufo-Addo has rubbished the purported “Agyapadie” document, which suggests a state capture scheme by the Akyem people.

During his speech at the Ghana Report Summit, he added that the document included misinformation that endangered democracy.
“This baseless accusation is yet another example of the malicious tactics used to undermine my credibility and integrity."
Akufo-Addo pointed out that over time, allegations of his drug trafficking and poor health have surfaced, and that this was not the first time he had been the target of purported disinformation campaigns.
During his remarks, the president emphasised the risks that misleading information poses to the democratic process.
He stated that in order to hold people and groups responsible for disseminating misleading information, Ghana needed to bolster its regulatory structures.

The Agyapadie document's substance was recently disparaged by Okyenhene Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin.
According to him, the paper was falsified with the intention of inciting animosity between the Akyems and the Asantes and defaming the Akyem people.
In addition, Okyenhene declared the document to be fake and exhorted Ghanaians to disregard it.
